Consultant in General Adult Psychiatry-Community Recovery
An existing Consultant post within the Adult Mental Health Directorate in Newham has become available due to the former substantive post-holder taking up a new role within the Newham Directorate. The post-holder will provide comprehensive recovery-focused integrated inpatient and community mental healthcare to individuals suffering from severe and enduring mental illness residing in the South-West of the borough.
This is an exciting time to join the service in Newham as it is embarking on a large scale transformation of community services following a successful bid by ELFT to NHS England for substantial pilot funding to meet the NHS long term plan. The successful candidate will therefore have the opportunity to contribute to the shape of future community mental health services in Newham and beyond.
Newham also hosts a WHO Collaborating Center (the only one specifically for Mental Health Service Development in the world) and the successful applicant will have opportunities for academic links with the Center and its large research group in social psychiatry. He/she will also be enrolled on the Trusts highly regarded Improvement Science in Action training and will be encouraged to contribute to our unique Quality Improvement programme.
