Brompton Hospital

Royal Brompton & Harefield NHS Foundation Trust is seeking to appoint a full time Consultant Thoracic Surgeon at the Royal Brompton Hospital.  The post is a substantive replacement post; it is a whole time Consultant Thoracic Surgeon. 

The successful applicant will join three other thoracic surgeons, and work with a wider multidisciplinary team including Clinical Nurse Specialists, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Pain Team Nurses, Palliative Care team, MDT coordinators and Cancer Manager. There is a similarly sized department at Harefield Hospital, and joint meetings and research occur. Taken together this is the largest Unit in the country.   

The appointee will provide clinical services in Thoracic Surgery, in accordance with clinical and legal requirements and in keeping with the international role of the Trust. 

The appointee would be expected to take part in and maintain a 24 hour service for adults with benign and malignant lesions of lung, mediastinum and pleura with other departments and services and be a multidisciplinary lung cancer team member. 

Applicants are required to be fully registered Medical Practitioners and must be on the GMC’s Specialist Register or be eligible for admission to the Register within six months from date of interview for the post.
