Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon
With 15 WTE consultant posts, GJNH department of Orthopaedics is one of the largest arthroplasty units in the United Kingdom, and during 2019/20 we plan to deliver over 4,000 total hip and total knee replacement and 550 foot and ankle procedures. This post offers an exciting opportunity to develop arthroplasty services in purpose built new facilities as part of our Phase 2 elective expansion programme which is due to open 2021/22. NHS Lanarkshire Trauma and Orthopaedics is provided by 27 consultants with a range of middle and junior grade doctors including senior trainees.
There is also an emphasis on non-medical practitioners with trauma liaison, advanced practitioners and physician assistants and admin and service staff. By 2020 NHS Lanarkshire will have separated their elective and trauma service and University Hospital Wishaw will be one of the biggest trauma departments in Scotland Applicants must be registered with the General Medical Council, be listed on the Specialist Register (or be within 6 months of entry) and hold a higher surgical qualification in Orthopaedics from one of the Royal Colleges of Surgeons or equivalent, if from out with the UK.
