About the role

Nelson Marlborough Health's (NMH's) Mental Health and Addictions Service is inviting applications from Specialist Psychiatrist to work on a permanent full-time basis within the Marlborough adult community mental health service. You will be joining a highly effective team performing vital work serving a population of approximately 45,000.

Clinical services are delivered by a full multidisciplinary team including: Psychiatrists, Medical Officers, Clinical Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, Registered Nurses and Social Workers. There is no on call requirement associated with this position.

About the role

Mental health inpatient care is provided at Nelson Hospital through a 26-bed general adult unit with IPC facilities and a nine-bed older persons' unit. Respite care and supported accommodation are available in both Blenheim and Nelson. 

The salary for this position will be the range of $161,304 - $240,000 (as per the current senior medical and dental officer collective agreement) dependent on skills, experience and gaining full vocational registration in NZ. You will also have access to up-to 10 days and a $16,000 allowance to put towards your continued medical education.

About you

Applicants must hold Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists, or equivalent, and be eligible for an Annual Practising Certificate and vocational registration with the New Zealand Medical Council. Experience in consult liaison psychiatry would be an advantage but not essential.
