Come and join the Blackburn with Darwen Public Health and Wellbeing Department. Our aim is to provide leadership and focus to local efforts to reduce inequalities in health, increase healthy life expectancy and improve community wellbeing, through harnessing the common endeavour of all stakeholders.
Blackburn with Darwen, in the North West of England, has a diverse population of 150,000, with many health challenges.
A small, dynamic local authority, co-terminous with its CCG and winner of ‘Council of the Year’ three times in the 20 years since becoming a Unitary, most recently in 2018. The Borough’s ‘Our Community, Our Future’ programme is currently one of five, chosen by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government, to pilot delivery of its ambitious Integrated Communities Strategy.
You will be joining us at an exciting time, as the Public Health and Wellbeing Team lead implementation across the larger Pennine Lancashire footprint (population 550,000), of both ‘Together an Active Future’ Sport England Local Delivery Pilot and Department of Health and Social Care ‘Child Obesity Trailblazer’ programme.
To succeed in Blackburn with Darwen, you will need to demonstrate keen and effective political awareness and promote a culture of close collaboration, working strategically in a complex system with a wide range of stakeholders. You will need to bring not only a strong track record in Public Health delivery but also the ability to develop and maintain effective partnerships to ensure positive outcomes for residents.
