The Department of Acute Medicine at Hinchingbrooke Hospital is looking to recruit three Consultant Acute Physicians.

The post holder will work on the Acute Assessment Unit (AAU), the Medical Short Stay Unit (MSSU) and the Ambulatory Care Unit (ACU). 

The AAU regularly sees, assesses and treats the full range of patients found on an unselected medical take.

Ambulatory care is overseen by a two consultants and staffed by two Specialty Doctors, and three Physician Associates .

MSSU receives medical patients likely to be discharged within 72 hours of admission and achieves a high turnover of patients per day. 

We are looking for Newly Qualified Consultants or established Consultants wanting a new challenge who have a passion for acute medicine.

You must be a capable senior decision maker who will support the rapid assessment of patients, streaming to appropriate pathways and commencement of treatment.

Consultants are expected to be based within the clinical area when rostered for direct clinical care programmed activities (PAs). You will be required to provide strong clinical leadership and to be available for opinion and advice on any patient within the acute medicine department.

There is the possibility of a session of speciality work for those with specialist interests and we are particularly keen to recruit and support candidates willing to develop a clinical leadership role.

You will be required to be on the GMC Specialist Register or be within 6 months of CCT at the time of interview.
