Wye Valley NHS Trust is a small district general hospital with an on-site microbiology laboratory which provides services to 180,000 residents in Herefordshire and Powys. The laboratory is fully UKAS accredited. The consultant microbiologists provide a highly regarded, high quality clinical microbiology service and participate in a range of MDTs including OPAT, prosthetic joint infections, TB and NTM and diabetic foot infections
This is a replacement post following the retirement of the incumbent and the new consultant will join an experienced and enthusiastic colleague. Out of hours, cover is provided via a joint 1 in 8 rota with Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust reimbursed at category “A”. The microbiology department is managed by a clinical scientist who is being developed into a consultant.
The roles of infection control doctor and head of department will be allocated according to the experience and preference of the new post holder.
