We are delighted to invite applications for two substantive posts in General Paediatrics at the Royal London Hospital, one with an interest in the treatment of Obesity & Eating Disorders and one with an interest in Rheumatology.
The successful candidate will join a highly motivated, consultant led team delivering high quality paediatric care to Tower Hamlets & East London.
The paediatric department manages over 20,000 inpatient spells a year and sees over 22,000 new patients and over 47,000 follow up patients per year in clinic. The Paediatric ED, as part of the Emergency Department of the Royal London Hospital, sees approximately y 45,000 patients each year.
The paediatric department is welcoming and friendly. Our multidisciplinary clinical team includes Nurses, play specialists and clinical nurse specialists, working alongside doctors in training, clinical fellows and Consultants.
All of our team are dedicated to team well-being and the highest standards in clinical care and patient safety. There is also a strong departmental teaching ethos.
The general paediatric duties of the posts include; participation in the two attending week rotas (inpatient & short stay), the on-call rota (which includes on-site duties until 22:00 on week nights), general outpatient clinics including rapid access clinics and supporting the development of a new Hospital at Home service.
The obesity & eating disorders duties of the post include; regular multidisciplinary obesity clinics, identifying patients suitable for referral to bariatric surgery, working one day / week with the East London Foundation Trust (ELFT) community eating disorder service (CEDS) to monitor the physical health & any co-morbidities of patients under their care.
The rheumatology duties of the post include; regular multidisciplinary rheumatology clinics, working with GOSH & UCLH to provide shared care for patients on disease modifying anti-rheumatic drugs (DMARD) including monitoring for side effects of DMARDs, participation in the local rheumatology network, providing local rheumatology specialist opinions.
Candidates must hold full registration with the GMC with a licence to practice.
Candidates must be on the GMC specialist register or be within six months of successful completion of UK paediatric training at the time of interview.
