There has never been a more exciting time to join us. East Kent is looking to appoint three new consultants across its major sites at Kent and Canterbury Hospital, Canterbury, Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Hospital, Margate and William Harvey Hospital, Ashford. With Trust Board support for an optimisation and improvement programme to be delivered over the next two years, based on clinician engagement and clinical leadership. You will have the opportunity to influence this programme.
This is a successful Department with over 40 Consultant Radiologist, NM Physicians and Associate Specialist.
We are a progressive department with a 4 tier staffing structure and an on-going programme to increase Advanced Practice supported by extended practitioners working in MRI, CT and breast services as well as fluoroscopy and plain film reporting. In addition the Consultant Practitioner role has been established in Breast Imaging and recruitment to a Ultrasound Consultant Practitioner will be initiated shortly. The Trust is conforming to the six weeks wait for diagnostics.
We provide all the key services that you would expect in one of the largest Acute Trust in the NHS. Including surgical, medical, obstetric, paediatric and gynaecological services. William Harvey Hospital is a head and neck/max-facial centre, and QEQMH a gynae oncology centre.
There are five CT scanners and five MRI scanners with mobile MRI and CT increasing capacity further and over 25 ultrasound units and has agreed funding to introduce two SPECT/CT units in Nuclear Medicine and an additional dedicated interventional unit to support the arterial centre for Kent and Medway which will be hosted at the Kent and Canterbury Hospital. This unit will expand the scope of the service and build on the good well established relationship with colleagues in vascular surgery. In addition the interventional radiology team will support the development of the regional stroke thrombectomy service. The William Harvey Hospital also hosts the Kent and Medway 24/7 PPCI service.
Research and Development opportunities are fully supported, and there are strong links to the University of Kent, and Christchurch University in Canterbury.
You should have a CSST in Radiology, or should be within 6 months of achieving this, so as to be Specialist Registered. Whilst we prefer applications for substantive appointments we are happy to consider fixed term NHS contracts.
