Applications are invited to join an existing team of 7 WTE Radiologists; a further Radiologist will be joining the team in October 2019. This post will be to join colleagues to provide robust symptomatic and screening breast services to the locality encompassing all breast imaging including breast radiography, MRI, ultrasound, intervention and be a core member of the Breast MDT. The Trust is keen to accommodate the right candidate and is offering flexible working arrangements through either full or part time hours, extended days and optional on-call participation for part-time candidates. The posts will suit candidates seeking Breast imaging only or combined with a range of interests that a small but busy acute Trust can offer, with opportunities to develop areas of special interest within a dynamic department adapting to the changing NHS landscape.
Barnsley Breast Unit is a dedicated unit supported with digital imaging and a dedicated breast PACS system and rated as one of the best in the country, with 100% of the eligible women in Barnsley, aged 50-70, being screened within the Government’s recommended three year period. The wider Medical Imaging department operates seven-day services and extended working days. All non-medical staff work shift patterns to support the extended hours.
The Medical Imaging Department is a progressive, patient focused department equipped with the latest technology and imaging modalities. The department has two CT suites supporting the development of CT colonography & cardiac CT, meeting the increased demand; supported by a 1.5 Tesla MRI suite, interventional fluoroscopy suite, A&E and plain X-ray rooms, with Dexa, Ultrasound services and Nuclear Medicine. Expansion and reconfiguration of the Imaging Department with an additional MRI suite is planned in the near future.
All Radiologists have access to communal reporting areas with PACS, CT and MRI workstations as well as dedicated offices for reporting aimed to suit the needs of all consultants. PACS equipment is standardised both on and off site to meet on call arrangements. We offer a very flexible approach to job planning within the framework of the consultant contract.
Experience in CT, MRI and general ultrasound would be an advantage both for routine lists and also to enable a safe service to be offered on-call. Development of a special interest complementing those of our existing staff will be encouraged. Majority of specialist interests seen throughout small-medium sized acute Trusts will be accommodated, in particular welcome interest in: Breast Imaging; Cardiac Imaging; Musculoskeletal Radiology; Paediatric Radiology; Head and Neck Imaging.
