NINEWELLS HOSPITAL AND MEDICAL SCHOOL
CONSULTANT PAEDIATRIC ORTHOPAEDIC SURGEON – 1 POST
The Department of Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgery is looking for Consultant Paediatric Orthopaedic Surgeon to be based at Ninewells Hospital and Medical School with other sessions at Perth Royal Infirmary or Stracathro Hospital, Brechin.
As an organisation NHS Tayside is going through rapid improvement program with new clinically led and managerially enabled model. We are excited to be part of Transforming Tayside with several streams of work integrating to provide best quality of patient care with efficiency and effectiveness embracing realistic medicine. With service realignment already underway with now established and well functioning Major Trauma Centre in Ninewells Hospital site, with elective care centre program finalising. Elective care program is developing to streamline elective activity at Perth Royal infirmary and Stracathro Hospital with Ninewells Hospital providing emergency services in orthopaedics and complex elective services.

NHS Tayside and Dundee University Medical School have an excellent international reputation. NHS clinical department of trauma and orthopaedics has very good reputation for high quality undergraduate teaching provided by NHS Consultants and Speciality Registrars. The University of Dundee orthopaedic department is going through transformation as well with established links between academic and clinical teams strengthened of our teaching hospital unit. Audit teams working with university and clinical teams providing robust long term date not only for research but for service development and innovative future delivery of service based on outcome data. Recent additions to already well known lower limb arthroplasty audit are upper limb and foot ankle audit programs. The close links between these institutions are greatly valued offering a highly stimulating and rewarding working environment.
