Consultant in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery

This is a substantive full time (10PA) Consultant position in General Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery required at Bedford Hospital.

This post serves a population of approximately 300,000 in Bedford and surrounding areas. This is a new full time post and provides an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated clinician to join a forward thinking department within a developing plastics service.

The successful candidate will be expected to show leadership in his/her speciality and to offer support to clinical colleagues in other specialities across a full range of plastic surgical cases.

It would be expected that the appointee would show a strong commitment to breast reconstructive surgery and would be encouraged to expand the department in this regard with our Breast Surgical team which will complement our current general plastic skin and hand service.

They will work closely with the current Plastic Consultant and have responsibility with them for the work and development of the hospital’s widely recognised Laser Treatment Centre and Plastics service.

Applicants must be fully registered with the General Medical Council with license to practice and be eligible for inclusion on the GMC’s Specialist Register (or expected entry within six months from the date of interview).

Informal discussions and or visits by prospective candidates are welcomed. To arrange a visit or for an informal discussion please contact Prof.S.Hindocha, Consultant Plastic Surgeon on 01234 355122 ext. 2881.
