We are seeking an enthusiastic and innovative Consultant to join our team. This is a new substantive post with the aim of achieving the nationally required standards of care for major trauma and the post holder will work alongside the existing two Orthogeriatricians. Recently the Orthogeriatric service has expanded to include review of all major trauma patients over the age of 65 on the Trauma and Orthopaedic wards, and this post is being introduced to expand the service across other specialties i.e. Neurosurgery and Cardiothoracics. The aim is to meet the Best Practice Tariff for Major Trauma. Current patient workload equates to about 15 inpatients per Consultant.
Geriatric Medicine services at St George’s have undergone a major reconfiguration. There has already been significant investment in order to create a comprehensive service for older people. The applicant must have MRCP or equivalent, valid ALS certification or equivalent, and demonstrate a suitable background and experience in managing patients in Geriatric Medicine and/or Acute Medicine, evidenced by CCT in G(I)M and/or Acute Medicine and Geriatric Medicine (or within six months of CCT).
The current job plan is 10 PAs within Geriatric Medicine in the Department of Senior Health. The post is fulltime, but we welcome applications from those wishing to work part time and/or job share.
