We have a vacancy for Middle Grade Senior Clinical Fellow Doctors in the Emergency Department at Nevill Hall Hospital. This post would be ideal for those wishing to train in Emergency Medicine either via the ST or CESR route. Support will be given to provide training to work towards gaining an ST post or Specialist Registration via Article 14. The department has already supported 2 Specialty and Staff Grade doctors through the Fellowship Examination (FRCEM) and several others through MRCEM. The department is also committed to the provision of protected time for Supporting Professional Activities (SPA) to conduct CPD, prepare for appraisal and revalidation and gain experience in allied specialties. The hospital is a busy District General Hospital. We currently see 50,000 new patients per annum of which 25% are children. The successful candidates will become part of a supportive multi-disciplinary team. The department has dedicated “shop floor” cover by Consultants until 11pm Monday-Friday. Also we have a “shop floor” consultant every Saturday and Sunday from 09:00 until 22:00 with on-call out of hours. There is an emphasis on early senior decision making and front loading the service. We have a Clinical Decision Unit which opened in 2012 and which has broadened our scope of practice.

Those wishing to discuss the post informally in the first instance or arrange a visit to the department should contact Dr Owain Chandler, Consultant in Emergency Medicine, 01873 732066.

This position involves Regulated Activity with children and adults as defined by the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act (amended by the Protection of Freedoms Act 2012) and the following checks will be undertaken following any conditional offer:

  • Enhanced check with barred list information, including

    - an adults and children’s barred list check

Applicants must hold or be eligible to hold full registration and a licence to practice with the GMC.
