Consultant Coronary Interventional Cardiologist

 

Applications are invited for this position of Consultant Interventional Cardiologist at The Great Western Hospital (Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust). The successful applicant will join 8 other Cardiologists, four of whom have a special interest in coronary intervention. There will be no commitment to General Internal Medicine.

The Great Western Hospital was opened in 2002 and serves a rapidly expanding population of 350,000 in Swindon and the surrounding rural areas.

The purpose-built Wiltshire Cardiac Centre is a fully integrated unit. The department is progressive and forward-thinking and has an active interest in research.

The department has 2 cardiac catheterisation laboratories with the local provision of PCI, simple and complex pacing and ICD implantation. There are full PCI facilities with rotablation, IVUS and OCT. There is a comprehensive device service including brady and complex pacing (including permanent His bundle pacing).

There are dedicated outpatient facilities with a full range of non-invasive and invasive services including a BSE accredited echo department. We have an active imaging department undertaking CTCA (with CT FFR) and CMR.

There are 24 Cardiology beds as well as an 8 bedded CCU managed by the Cardiologists. The Consultant staff is supported by 2 Specialty Registrars, 2 Associate Specialists and 5 other trainees.

The successful applicants should possess MRCP (UK) from the Royal College of Physicians (or equivalent). Full registration with the GMC is essential and applicants should be within 6 months of CCT at the time of interview or currently hold CCT or equivalent.
