Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children/Royal Marsden Hospital
These posts provide an exciting opportunity for dynamic and enthusiastic clinicians seeking to gain experience in Cancer Genetics working with teams at two London centres of excellence. Each post will incorporate 6 months of clinical training at the Royal Marsden Hospital and the North East Thames Regional Cancer Genetics Service based at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH).
The post holders will have the opportunity to gain comprehensive clinical experience in Cancer Genetics through working in centres, which serve differing populations of adult patients, each service also offers specialist paediatric cancer genetics clinics.
GOSH hosts the North Thames Genomic Laboratory Hub (GLH), which offers core germline Cancer Genetic testing services and is one of three nationally commissioned laboratories, which will offer specialist Inherited Cancer Genetics germline testing. The Royal Marsden Hospital is responsible for cancer somatic testing services across the region. This post will provide the chance to work with scientists from both centres to gain experience in interpretation of genomic germline and somatic testing data in the management of cancer patients and for inherited cancer risk assessment in relatives.
This post would be most suited to oncologists wishing to gain specialist experience in Cancer Genetics or those interested in pursuing a career in Clinical Genetics.
