Consultant in Neurology
Applications are invited for a full time Consultant in Neurology to actively develop and enhance services within Worcestershire. We would welcome and support applicants with a sub specialty interest, assist in development of such a role and facilitate a Tertiary clinical role. This post will complement the service delivered by existing neurology consultants in the county.
It is envisaged that this post will provide an excellent opportunity to significantly build on the existing service in Neurology. The post holder will join an enthusiastic team delivering neurology services and have the option to develop their specialty in conjunction with the regional neurosciences unit, and within Worcestershire’
Worcestershire is an excellent rural county with some delightful local sights and amenities. Local National and International links are easily accessible. The Second city of Birmingham with its entertainment and restaurant and cultural delights is a very short distance away and readily accessible. The county has some of the best schools and house prices amongst the UK and is a highly desirable place to live and work.
The post holder will potentially provide outpatient clinics at Worcestershire Royal Hospital, Alexandra hospital and Kidderminster Treatment Centre by agreement and discussion, providing advice on neurology problems for inpatients under other consultant teams, liaise with general practitioners on all aspects of neurology care and liaise with multidisciplinary Neurology service teams in the Regional Centre and in the community. The post holder will also take part in cross-county governance meetings as necessary. The post holder will have an allocated secretarial assistant from within the department of Neurology.
The Trust has three acute sites with clinics at Worcestershire Royal Hospital, Kidderminster Hospital Treatment Centre and the Alexandra Hospital.
CME/SPA would be scheduled to take place at QEHB to allow attendance at consultants meeting, journal club etc. The Trust encourages and facilitates post holders to accumulate their CME both nationally and internationally.
Essential requirements include entry on the specialist register in Neurology (or entry expected within 6 months from date of interview) and clinical training/experience equivalent to that required for gaining (UK) CCST in Neurology. Applicants should hold full GMC registration with a Licence to Practise.
