The Townsville Hospital Emergency Department is Australia’s northernmost tertiary facility. We are a mixed ED caring for 85,000 presentations/year with a 30% admission rate. Paediatric patients account for 25% of ED presentations. We are the primary referral centre for North Queensland.
Townsville ED is a consultant-led service with dedicated teaching programs with protected time. The ED Director of Research supports your audits and research. James Cook University is adjacent to the hospital.
We offer a mentoring program, flexible rostering and great access to leave (7 weeks/year) to promote staff wellbeing for full time and part time employees.
Relocation remuneration is provided.
Townsville is a large regional centre in tropical North Queensland, with a population of approximately 180,000. We enjoy 300 days of sunshine per year, with average July temperatures 25 degrees. Townsville is a cosmopolitan centre with a variety of restaurants, cultural activities and sporting teams. It is a 20-minute ferry ride to Magnetic Island, and easy travel to the Whitsundays, Great Barrier Reef, and rainforests. Townsville is a family-friendly city with variety of outdoor activities. There are direct flights to Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne.
