Two substantive posts in Histopathology have become available at King’s College Hospital. The current team comprises 19 consultants, 12 based at Denmark Hill and 6 based at the Princess Royal University Hospital. These posts are for positions at the Denmark Hill site.
The Trust is one of the largest foundation trusts in the country with over acute 950 beds and a turnover of about £1 billion pa. It serves a wide population from the Southwark, Lambeth and Bromley and Bexley areas. The Trust provides a broad range of secondary services, including specialist emergency medicine (e.g. trauma, cardiac and stroke). It also provides a number of leading-edge tertiary services, such as liver transplantation, neurosciences, haemato-oncology, and fetal medicine, on a regional and national basis. King’s College Hospital has a strong track record for research and development and service innovation, it is a major partner within King’s Health Partnership.
Histopathology is a UKAS ISO 15189:2012 Accredited Department, has 76 staff, and undertakes histopathology (including frozen sections), diagnostic cytopathology (including FNA clinics and EBUS), immunohistochemistry, molecular pathology, and autopsy pathology.
We are looking to recruit two substantive consultants with special interests in the following: dermatopathology, uropathology, breast pathology and gynaecological pathology. An interest in non-gynaecological cytopathology would be welcomed and other sub-speciality interests would be considered.
There is no requirement to work in the field of gynaecological cytopathology and autopsy work can be arranged by mutual consent with the Clinical Lead and local Coroner.
