Consultant in Elderly Medicine with an interest in POPS (Perioperative Care for older people having surgery) and Orthogeriatrics
Applications are invited for a Consultant in Elderly Medicine. This is a substantive appointment and is a new post, based at Lister Hospital in Stevenage. The post comprises 10 programmed activities (PAs) and an on-call commitment.
This is an excellent opportunity within the Elderly Medicine department at East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust. This post is an exciting development for the Elderly Care department and further expands a team of 9 Substantive consultants to continue providing excellent care for older patients in the hospital. The trust recognises that effective ways of caring for older patients throughout the hospital are required to provide excellent quality of care and for sustainability of the organisation.
Through service development and building on our current successful liaison service the team will expand to provide robust in-reach to surgery working closely with 2 other consultants and rotating to provide Orthogeriatrics as well as cover for some medical patients. There is a full junior team already in place and proposal to enhance the team further with specialist nurses. The department has a close working relationship with the trust management and CCG who have made significant investments over the past few years. Newly appointed consultants will be supported by a mentor and have opportunities to develop skills within management and education.
The Lister Hospital is based in Hertfordshire with many attractive areas to live and provides an excellent choice of schooling.
