Applications are invited for the post of Consultant General Cardiologist at Milton Keynes University Hospital (MKUH) NHS Foundation Trust.
This is replacement post offering 10 programmed activities. Additional programmed activities may be available, but these are subject to annual discussion and agreement and do not form part of the underlying contractual agreement.
The purpose of this post is to continue the development of our cardiology services in Milton Keynes, working with partners in order to ensure excellent care across cardiology sub-specialties. It is envisaged that the successful appointee, assuming a sub-specialty interest that can be accommodated. The post holder will provide General Cardiology services with colleagues, to fulfil our commitment to 7-day service and cardiac in-reach.
The Department of Cardiology provides a secondary care service to a population of about 320,000 in and around Milton Keynes. The department has both established and developing links with a number of hospitals including Bedford, Luton and Oxford.
The successful applicant will be expected to participate in teaching both under and postgraduate students associated with the University of Buckingham and will also be expected to support colleagues doing these activities as part of his or her arranged job plan.
Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, in partnership with the University of Buckingham, is a University Teaching Hospital; we conduct research and teaching on site to improve the care of our patients. There are significant opportunities in the field of medical education both in the delivery and organisation of teaching. A teaching and research background would be highly advantageous when applying for this position.
The hospital is undergoing significant investment and development including a new surgical ward, a new main entrance (allowing expansion of A&E services), a new Academic Centre and a planned new Cancer Centre.
Milton Keynes is the fastest growing and most successful city in the country for which we provide Emergency Medicine (including Paediatrics) from minor injury to major trauma, Critical Care, Cancer Services, General Surgery & Medicine, Women’s & Children Services (including Maternity, Paediatrics & Neonatal) and Renal Services.
