Consultant in Histopathology
The Department is a joint NHS/University Department and provides Pathology services for Tayside based primarily at the Ninewells Hospital and Medical School site. The Pathology complex is modern and has amongst the best facilities in the country. There is an annual throughput of 28,000 surgical specimens, 32,000 cervical cytology, 3,000 diagnostic cytology specimens. The Pathology service has a large and varied workload and you will join a team of thirteen other NHS Consultants and one honorary Consultant. The Department has long established sub-specialisation and whilst there may be scope for some flexibility, this current position would be suitable for individuals with an interest in surgical gynaecological pathology, breast pathology and dermatopathology. There will be no requirement to undertake autopsy related work. EPAs may be available on negotiation.
There are excellent opportunities for research both within the Department and with other research groups within the Hospital and University. There are also opportunities to participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and on this basis, it is expected that the University of Dundee will accord an appropriate honorary appointment.
You should hold FRCPath or an equivalent qualification. Applicants must be on the Specialist Register or be within 6 months of the anticipated award of a CCT or CESR(CP) at the time of interview for the post. Anticipated date for interview is Thursday 31 October 2019.
