Consultant in Chemical Pathology
An opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and motivated doctor to join our Pathology service, which we believe offers a supportive and encouraging environment in which to develop as a professional.
We are looking to appoint a Consultant in Chemical Pathology, to complement the existing consultant team of 2 Chemical Pathologists and 1 Clinical Biochemist. This post has been converted from a Clinical Biochemist post and offers opportunities for the development of clinical areas of interest as well as future opportunities for clinical leadership, depending on the interests of the successful candidate.
Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust provides services to more than half a million people living in the Wakefield and North Kirklees districts of West Yorkshire. There are three hospital sites: Pinderfields (Wakefield), Dewsbury and District and Pontefract. Services provided on the main hospital site at Pinderfields include emergency and specialist medical care, surgery for urgent, short stay and complex conditions, intensive and high dependency care, specialist care for older people, midwife led and consultant led births, inpatient care for children with a specialist neo-natal unit, specialist burns and plastic surgery and a specialist cancer unit.
Clinical Biochemistry, as part of Blood Sciences, has a state of the art laboratory at Pinderfields Hospital with a tracking system with pre and post analytics, housed in a purpose built Pathology building adjacent to the main hospital building. A 24/7 service is also provided on the Dewsbury site.
This post is offered on a full time (10 PA) basis although less than full time applications will be considered.
Applicants must possess FRCPath (with our without Metabolic Medicine) or equivalent, or be within 6 months of receiving a CCT at the time of the interview.

The appointment will be on the basis of the new consultant contract laid down by the Hospital Medical and Dental Staff Terms and Conditions of Service and will be remunerated as appropriate on the salary scale £77,913 - £105,042 per annum.
