Consultant Emergency Medicine
We are looking for high calibre, committed Consultants to join our expanding consultant workforce at North Manchester General.
Why join the ED team at North Manchester?
North Manchester provides care for some of the most vulnerable patients in the country, with high levels of complex disease, social deprivation and cultural diversity. These combine to make for a clinically challenging and rewarding experience.
We are currently undergoing extensive improvement and this is an exciting time to join us to help shape the future direction of the service. We are keen to hear from individuals who want to help develop the ED service and utilise their ideas, skills, and expertise to implement new ways of working and innovative pathways to drive patient care.
Our Emergency Department cares for approximately 100,000 children and adults per year. Children are seen in an audio-visually separate Paediatric Emergency Department with a dedicated paediatric ANP service. We are proud to have developed a bespoke sensory room in the Paediatric area, supporting children with special needs. 2018 saw the opening of a dedicated same Day Care facility run by Primary Care and ENPs with support from the Emergency consultants. The department is supported by a well-established navigator service facilitating early discharge of patients requiring additional home support, and has 24/7 input from the Mental Health Liaison Team.
In particular we are looking for applicants who wish to develop in specific areas, with SPA time allocated for education, service improvement, governance & audit. Applicants who are aspiring to take on future leadership roles will be welcomed as there are potential future opportunities within North Manchester.
North Manchester Care Organisation is part of the Pennine Acute Trust, one of the largest in the country and forms part of the Northern Care Alliance alongside Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust. Manchester is a thriving city, with excellent national and international transport links, and hosts a wide range of internationally recognised sports, leisure, culture and arts facilities. You must hold FRCEM or equivalent and either be on the Specialist Register or within six months of achieving a Certificate of Completion of Training at the date of interview. Applications are welcomed from those unable to work full time for personal reasons or those wishing to job share.
