Senior Clinical Fellow in Burns & Plastics Surgery
Applicants are invited to apply for the role of Senior Clinical Fellow post ST3 Level in Plastic Surgery for a permanent position.
The Plastic Surgery and Burns Unit has its own dedicated burns, plastics, laser and day case theatres and a dressing clinic. The consultants have access to 28 plastic surgery beds and a trauma assessment area on the plastic surgery ward and 12 burn beds on the burn ward. The unit has 4 theatres for plastic surgery, 1 for burns and 1 for day case skin work at Whiston. There are 6 day case theatre sessions per week and a Mohs unit on the St Helens site. Whiston hospital houses the majority of other surgical and medical specialties occasionally needed by plastic surgical patients. We have excellent pathological and radiological departments on site with recently enhanced MRI facilities
Although this is a non-training post, all of the duties and commitments of the Senior Clinical Fellow Appointment for Service trainee are exactly the same as the Specialist Trainees. Post holders are actively involved in the Unit’s research, audit and teaching programmes. This post is Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm with no on calls. Duties will be similar to trainee colleagues encouraging participation in teaching, audit and research. This job is intended for less experienced trainees, who want to increase their experience in plastic surgery before applying for ST posts. Due to this, previous candidates have found the job very useful and it has helped them in their applications for ST3 level posts.
