Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon specialising in Paediatric Ophthalmology & Adult Strabismus

Full-time

North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust is no ordinary NHS hospital. It has a reputation for dynamism, integration of Clinicians in management, and high quality patient care.

The Department of Ophthalmology is unusual for a District General Hospital, being arranged by subspecialty for many years, offering the opportunities of a University hospital while also retaining the freedom of movement to innovate.

Examples include shared care Community schemes, integration with Optometrists, expanded roles for nurses & other non medical health care professionals, and a high level of clinical research that has shaped improvements in eye care nationally over many years.

The department firmly believes in investing in a strong IT infrastructure to develop innovative ways to meet capacity demands including virtual clinics.

Following the merger of Peterborough and Stamford Hospitals with Hinchingbrooke Hospital in Huntingdon last year, there is an opportunity to recruit a full time Consultant, who will add expertise to the new, combined Trust, working alongside existing colleagues.

This is an exciting opportunity for a consultant who specialises in Paediatric Ophthalmology & Adult Strabismus, to join a multidisciplinary team providing optimal care.

The hospitals provide comprehensive Ophthalmology care for the Huntingdon, Stamford, Peterborough, Ely and Fenland areas and also receive some referrals from the wider region.

This post will have sessions at Hinchingbrooke and Peterborough Hospitals with also an on call commitment in the job plan.

The successful applicant will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of the service in the new merged organization.

You will be required to be on the GMC Specialist Register or be within 6 months of CCT at the time of interview.

This post is eligible for the Trusts internal Refer a Friend Scheme.
