Taunton and Somerset NHS Foundation Trust is seeking to appoint an Associate Specialist in Colorectal to support the further development of the Colorectal service in Somerset.

As the successful candidate you will join a dynamic, dedicated, and well-functioning team based at Musgrove Park Hospital. You will be encouraged to develop a special interest to complement the department and take hands on role in service development.

Position Requirements

    • 24 months experience at registrar level in Colorectal or General Surgery (not including Foundation modules) evidence of achievement of competencies.
    • Full GMC registration
    • ILS training will be advantageous
    • Eligibility to work in the UK

The Hospital and Trust

Musgrove Park is a busy 750 bed District General Hospital serving West Somerset. The Trust has an excellent Teaching Academy and Postgraduate Centre and its own Research & Development Support Unit.

Musgrove Park is a rapidly developing hospital, with a Cancer Centre and a newly completed Jubilee Building housing the general surgical wards. We are a Foundation Trust and will be looking for the appointee to work with the Trust to develop the service and the Trust.

Situated in the south-west of England in the county town of Taunton just off the M5 motorway 37 miles north of Exeter, 48 miles south of Bristol. Taunton lies in a vale surrounded by designated Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty. There is an excellent choice of schools both in the private and state sectors. London is less than 2 hours by rail and the nearby cities of Bristol and Exeter both under 30 minutes.
