Edinburgh Clinical Academic Training programme – all clinical disciplines

Training and mentoring future academic leaders:  2020 intake

The University of Edinburgh is now seeking to appoint a further cohort of highly ambitious individuals who aspire to become the next generation of clinical academic leaders. Vacancies are available within the SCREDS (Scottish Clinical Research Excellence Development Scheme) Clinical Lectureship programme for trainees who have already completed a PhD or MD and are seeking postdoctoral training and mentorship. All vacancies are open to medically-qualified trainees in any clinical discipline from anywhere in the UK.  All candidates must demonstrate a commitment to a research career and should have a track record appropriate to their career stage in basic, translational or clinical research.

In Scotland, Clinical Lectureships can be awarded by the University to any trainee irrespective of their clinical discipline.  Up to five Lectureships are available in Edinburgh for postdoctoral trainees in any discipline in 2019. SCREDS Lecturers are appointed on a fixed-term basis until CCT date plus six months, and are supported to establish and maintain a successful research programme within one of Edinburgh’s multidisciplinary research centres.  Successful applicants will be granted Honorary Specialist Registrar status by NHS Lothian.  Clinical training, with some on-call commitment, will be provided through the South East Scotland Specialty Training Scheme.

Candidates for SCREDS Clinical Lecturer posts must hold or obtain a specialty training position (with a National Training Number) in their chosen discipline in the UK no later than August 2020. Candidates must already have obtained a PhD or MD.

Candidates must be GMC registered.

We aim to be an inclusive programme and welcome applications from eligible candidates irrespective of gender or ethnic group.
