Consultant in Anaesthesia and Pain Medicine
Applications are invited for the post of Consultant in Anaesthesia and Pain Medicine, based at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge.
This post has been created to meet the rapidly expanding requirements for pain and anaesthetic services within the Trust. The successful applicant will join a team of five other Pain Specialists/Consultant Anaesthetists and a Consultant Clinical Psychologist providing a well-established chronic pain service, and a larger team of anaesthetists sharing in the delivery of anaesthetics. The chronic pain service is supported by a large team of experienced nurses, providing pain management services.
The main theatre suite currently has 22 theatres. In addition, there are 6 theatres in the Addenbrooke’s Treatment Centre, 3 theatres for Neurosurgery, 2 theatres in the Cambridge Eye Unit, 2 Obstetric theatres and 2 theatres in the Princess of Wales Day Surgery Unit in Ely. In addition, there are dedicated body and neuro-interventional angiography suites along with an endoscopy suite.
The Department is responsible for Adult Intensive Care and is also responsible for the organisation of the Day Surgery Unit, including facilities at Ely. Pain services are managed within a separate Musculoskeletal Directorate along with Rheumatology and Trauma & Orthopaedics but maintain close links with the Department of Anaesthesia.
You will be fully registered with the GMC and ideally have a CCT in Anaesthesia or be within six months of award of CCT at the time of interview. Applications are welcomed from those unable to work full time for personal reasons or those wishing to job-share.
