Consultant Rheumatologists (3 posts available)
Applicants are invited to apply for the positions of Consultant Rheumatologist at Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust. Applicants wishing to work full time or part time would be welcomed. This is a county wide post. The successful applicant will support the development of county wide Rheumatology services in Worcestershire. The Rheumatology Department has developed a “Hub and Spoke” model. Facilities at the base Hospital - Worcestershire Royal Hospital, include specialist physiotherapy, occupational therapy, a large hydrotherapy pool, the Rheumatology Day Case Unit, and access to in-patient beds for acute admissions. Therapy support services are also available at the Kidderminster Treatment Centre and the Alexandra Hospital in Redditch. The post holders will provide expertise to develop services across the county alongside our primary care colleagues, recognising the changing face of how services are commissioned and delivered. There are excellent opportunities for personal development and the post holder will be encouraged to develop their clinical interests, with particular opportunities in research and medical education.
The team includes an establishment for 6 Consultant Rheumatologists (including the three posts being advertised) with a supporting Multidisciplinary team including Rheumatology Specialist Nurses, and a Rheumatology pharmacist . The Department holds a regular weekly Multidisciplinary team meeting. The Department is involved with undergraduate medical student teaching from the University of Birmingham and supporting junior doctors in training. The Department has one SpR from the West Midlands Training Scheme in Rheumatology. The Department is active in Research, and has developed links with the local CLRN and the University of Worcester. The Rheumatology Department is also engaged with training in the innovative Physicians Associate MSc Course at the University of Worcester.
It is an exciting time to join the Trust, as we are undergoing a period of reconfiguration of services across the county. The emphasis is on the development of equitable countywide care for the residents of Worcestershire. We are seeking a dynamic team member to assist the Trust in delivering a high quality service. The Directorate of Rheumatology sits within the Division of Specialised Clinical Services Division ( SCSD).
Candidates with a sub-specialty Rheumatology interest that fit with the wider development opportunities within the Directorate would be encouraged ( Eg Osteoporosis, developing Early Synovitis ultrasound).
Applicants should be registered with the GMC and have a licence to practise. Applicants should already have experience in Rheumatology and hold a CCT or be a Specialist Registrar within six months of your expected date of receipt of the CCT at the time of interview.
