Applications are invited for a Consultant in Breast Surgery at Addenbrooke’s Hospital part of Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (CUH) (no general surgical commitments).

The Cambridge Breast Unit (CBU) is a specialist Cancer Unit, encompassing the Cambridge and Huntingdon Breast Screening Service. It is located within Addenbrooke’s Hospital, part of the Cambridge Biomedical Campus. The multidisciplinary team comprises Breast Cancer specialists in Surgery, Radiology, Pathology, Oncology, Cancer Genetics and nursing. This post holder will be one of four Breast Surgeons treating over 450 symptomatic and screen-detected cancers per annum.

The Unit is committed to delivering excellence in both clinical care and Breast Cancer research, and has built a national and international reputation. It has dedicated outpatient and diagnostic facilities, linked with a purpose built Clinical Research Unit to accommodate the expanding Clinical and Translational Research Programme. There are many opportunities for collaborative research with scientists on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus.

Applicants should be fully registered with the GMC and be on the Specialist Register in Breast Surgery or be within six months of award of CCT at the time of interview.

They must be able to demonstrate specialist training in management of benign and malignant Breast Disease and have expertise in performing “oncoplastic” and reconstructive breast procedures. Applicants are expected to participate in clinical research, and a higher academic qualification is desirable.
