Locum Consultant in Trauma and Orthopaedics - Special Interest: Lower Limb Arthroplasty

Duration: up to 12 months

Based at the Royal Gwent Hospital, Newport, SE Wales

The successful applicant will work as part of the Orthopaedic team at the Royal Gwent Hospital, within Aneurin Bevan University Health Board to provide a comprehensive trauma and orthopaedic service to a catchment population of over 600,000.

The Directorate of Trauma and Orthopaedics sits within the Scheduled Care Division of Aneurin Bevan University Health Board and is committed to developing a modern, evidence based, multi-disciplinary focused service for the residents of Gwent. The post provides an excellent opportunity to join an established team committed to improving services within Trauma and Orthopaedics.

The Trauma & Orthopaedic Directorate is split over four sites, Nevill Hall Hospital, Abergavenny; the Royal Gwent Hospital, Newport; Ysbyty Ystrad Fawr, Ystrad Mynach and St Woolos Hospital, Newport. The Directorate forms part of the Scheduled Care Division and has three trauma wards based between Nevill Hall and the Royal Gwent Hospital with elective ring fenced wards based at Nevill Hall Hospital, the Royal Gwent Hospital, St Woolos Hospital and Ysbyty Ystrad Fawr

This position involves Regulated Activity with children and adults as defined by the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act (amended by the Protection of Freedoms Act 2012) and the following checks will be undertaken following any conditional offer:

  • Enhanced check with barred list information, including an adults and children’s barred list check Applicants must hold or be eligible to hold full registration and a licence to practice with the GMC.

Candidates for Consultant posts must also be on the GMC Specialist Register (including via CESR/European Community Rights) or will have a CCT/CESR(CP) date within 6 months of interview.
