Research Fellow in Cardiac Electrophysiology

6 months initial fixed term contract

Barts Health NHS Trust is a world-class centre for cardiovascular medicine. We are a tertiary referral centre with an international reputation for leading research in cardiac rhythm management. We have a strong track record for clinical research and clinical trials in electrophysiology and device therapy.

We are seeking to appoint a dynamic and motivated Research Fellow in Electrophysiology to work in an established research role within the Cardiac Research Department at St. Bartholomew’s Hospital for a 6 month fixed term contract with view to extend.

This post has been designed as a research post for one person over 6 months in the first instance.  The objective will be for the Fellow to continue ongoing mapping studies, support new research studies with the opportunity of developing their own research with a view to an MD or PhD.  Publication of research material and presentations at national and international conferences is expected.  It is expected the post holder will be a source of knowledge and technical support to the clinical and research teams.  It is therefore expected that the post holder will be at registrar level, already with some experience of general cardiology and in particular electrophysiology and device therapy. Previous research experience is also desirable. The post provides an ideal opportunity to carry out clinical research and publish in the field whilst consolidating practical experience.

Prospective candidates can speak to the academic lead for cardiac research, Prof Pier Lambiase p.lambiase@ucl.ac.uk or arrange a visit to the department by contacting Sophie Welch, Research Manager, 020 3765 8635 or sophie.welch2@nhs.net
