Taunton and Somerset NHS Foundation Trust are looking for a Diagnostic Consultant in Gynaecology with an interest in gynaecological oncology and pre-invasive disease and colposcopy lead. This post is based at Musgrove Park Hospital, Taunton. This is to a replacement post.

The successful candidate will work with and support the existing gynaecological oncology service. The successful candidate will have accreditation in Obstetrics and Gynaecology with the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and should hold CCT with RCOG. Candidates with CESR may also be considered for this post. An interest in outpatient hysteroscopy and minor gynaecological surgery is required. Accreditation in colposcopy with BSCCP is essential and skills in major gynaecological surgery is desirable, but not necessary.

You will join a well-established team of 2 subspecialist gynaecological oncologists at the Somerset Cancer Centre. ATSM in gynaecological oncology or equivalent is desirable, but not necessary. We would welcome someone with experience in colposcopy and colposcopy research to take up the role as the colposcopy lead and CSPL. The Centre treats 200 new gynaecological cancer patients and sees ~2,400 new referrals per annum through rapid access, post-menopausal bleeding and colposcopy clinics in a dedicated, stand-alone, gynaecological oncology centre (GRACE Centre). You will be the audit lead for the service. Musgrove Park Hospital is a busy District General Hospital providing acute and community services to 330,000 people living in the west side of Somerset and tertiary gynaecological oncology referrals from East Somerset and West Dorset, via Yeovil District General Hospital. Taunton is situated in the south-west of England in the county town of Taunton, just off the M5 motorway ,37 miles north of Exeter, 48 miles south of Bristol. Taunton is under 2 hours by rail from London.

Applicants will hold MRCOG or equivalent and be enrolled/within 6 months of enrolment on the GMC’s Specialist Register at the time of interview.
