Isabel Hospice is a highly respected local charity with deep roots in the communities that we have served for over 35 years. We are seeking an experienced and motivated Doctor to join our small, friendly and dynamic team to play a key role in the care of our patients.

Our In Patient Unit is currently operating with 8 short stay beds and we liaise closely with multiple acute hospitals and community services in ensuring their best use. Our Community Team of Clinical Nurse Specialists see approximately 1650 patients per year and the successful applicant will be involved in reviewing patients and offering advice to support the community team. Other services include recently extended Living Well Services and Family and Bereavement Support across the eastern Hertfordshire area.  We are also a teaching hospice, hosting an FY2 and GP trainee throughout the year and are a named teaching hospice for the University of Cambridge medical students and University of Hertfordshire nursing and paramedic students. This is a flexible post offering variety, stimulating and rewarding work.  We provide excellent opportunities for development and support to achieve the Diploma in Palliative medicine.

To apply you will need to have at least four years postgraduate experience, including experience allied to specialties in palliative care such as oncology, geriatrics, respiratory or general practice. Post registration experience in specialist palliative care would be desirable. You should be able to work independently, being sensitive to the differing needs of a diverse range of patients and an understanding of ethical issues that arise in palliative care. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential.

We offer pension and life assurance scheme or continued membership of the NHS pension scheme, Employee Assistance Programme, free Tea, Coffee and Parking. Annual leave of 27 days plus bank holidays rising with service to 33 days, we also honour NHS long service leave.
