Applications are invited for this full-time substantive consultant post in Birmingham Children’s Hospital suitable for dermatologists with a specialist interest in Paediatric Dermatology, available from November 2019. Applicants must either have a CCT in dermatology (or equivalent) or be trainees holding an NTN in dermatology within 6 months of completion of CCT. Additional prior experience in Paediatric Dermatology is desirable.
The post will provide an opportunity to practise Paediatric Dermatology in a state-of-the-art children’s hospital environment. The appointee may also have the opportunity to maintain skills in Adult Dermatology by undertaking a clinic at a nearby adult unit such as University Hospitals Birmingham. Applicants who wish to work part time or as a job share will also be considered.
Birmingham Children’s Hospital provides a comprehensive Paediatric Dermatology service of national reputation, including the nationally funded Epidermolysis Bullosa service. The appointee will work alongside a dedicated team comprising Dr Malobi Ogboli, Dr Emma Howard, Dr Vicky Diba, Prof Celia Moss (part retired), a post-CCT Clinical Fellow, dermatology trainees from the West Midlands rotation, and Dermatology clinical nurse specialists. Clinical work will comprise secondary and tertiary level Paediatric Dermatology clinics and inpatient referrals. Currently there is no out of hours on call commitment but this may change. Subspecialty interests in the department include genetic disorders, vascular malformations, atopic dermatitis and Epidermolysis Bullosa. The appointee will be encouraged to develop further sub specialist and research interests.
