Consultant in Anaesthesia

We are looking for an enthusiastic consultant anaesthetist based mainly at Harefield Hospital, although the successful applicant may be required to work in other locations in the Trust.
The post is a full-time post in adult cardiothoracic anaesthesia which will include some critical care activity as appropriate to the skills and experience of the post-holder (including providing cover for the recovery unit and high dependency units). Other direct clinical care including outreach, follow up clinics, pre-assessment and optimisation clinics can be negotiated within the job plan depending on the experience of the successful applicant.
Applicants are expected to have a wide experience in all aspects of anaesthesia for adult cardiac surgery, transplantation and mechanical circulatory support devices (including VADs and ECMO), thoracic surgery and interventional cardiology. The successful applicant will join a team of existing consultants in anaesthesia and critical care in this busy tertiary referral centre.
In addition to holding full GMC registration and FRCA or equivalent, the successful candidate will be in possession of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or within 6 months of possession at the time of interview. A minimum of two years of experience in cardiothoracic anaesthesia at Fellow or Consultant level is essential, as is experience in perioperative transoesophageal echocardiography. A higher degree would be desirable as is experience in research, teaching or training.
