East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest NHS organisations in the region, employing over 10,000 staff and serving a population of almost 800,000 residents. By merging Colchester and Ipswich hospitals, we can provide the latest treatments locally, and be in a stronger position to save, grow and strengthen the many hospital and community services our residents rely on.

We are an ambitious trust with a simple vision, to provide the communities we serve with excellent healthcare and build a better future for the people of east Suffolk and North Essex. To help us do this, we will work closely with our local partners to deliver more of the joined-up services and care our residents need.

We want the best staff. You want to make a difference.

For our staff and our patients, we have the same philosophy: time matters. This new way of working will remove unnecessary stress and frustration caused by the systems we use and the way we work. We will concentrate on removing or improving the things we do that don't work for our patients. For our staff, this means more time to care for patients and greater opportunities to develop skills and experience.

To be the best, we need to attract and keep the best staff. Our size puts us in a strong position to grow, providing more of the latest services. Our scale provides exciting opportunities for development, innovation, research, education and training. Support from technology and logistics will help us see patients at the right time.

So, if your ambition matches ours, it’s time to work together.

We are seeking a substantive consultant in medical microbiology who will join the consultant microbiology workforce at East Suffolk and North East Essex Foundation Trust (ESNEFT).

The Microbiology Department deals with a wide range of specialties. You will work within an established multi-disciplinary team, including an active Infection Prevention and Control Team. Reporting on the full range of medical microbiology, you will contribute to the infection prevention and control program.

This appointment may be either whole-time, part-time or shared. To be successful, you must have FRCPath or equivalent, full GMC registration, and inclusion on the Specialist Register of the General Medical Council in Medical Microbiology or within six months of CCT at interview date.
