Consultant Psychiatrist –
Home Treatment Team Sutton
We are a dynamic, financially stable mental health trust which has been rated ‘good’ by the CQC both overall and specifically for our acute & urgent care services. We are in the third year of a Trustwide quality improvement programme involving all clinicians, which is delivering results. We have invested in further improvements to our acute and urgent care services, including innovative ‘Recovery Cafés’ for service users, a Psychiatric Decision Unit, and integrated Out of Hours services.
We are looking for another Consultant Psychiatrist to join the Acute & Urgent Care consultant body. This is an existing post, arising because of the relocation of the existing consultant abroad.
The post holder will, together with another consultant, provide clinical leadership to the Sutton Home Treatment Team (SHTT). The Team’s staff of nurses, recovery workers, doctors and social workers provide safe effective care to people in crisis at home – helping preserve family roles, independence, promoting recovery and reducing stigma. Only 1 in 4 people referred to the team are admitted to a ward, meaning SHTT help 75% of people recover at home. This provides excellent value for money and preserves resource for those in greatest need who cannot remain safely at home. The team excel in our Trust at achieving this with a range of services including clozapine initiation, community-based alcohol detoxification, psychological support and signposting.
If you are a capable dynamic practitioner who would like to be part of this expanding service, we would like to hear from you.
