Taunton & Somerset is rapidly expanding busy District General Trust in probably the best kept secret location in the country. Applications are invited for two Consultant Anaesthetic posts. We are keen to attract motivated hard working colleagues who share our vision to maintain a cohesive department focused on excellent patient care and outstanding multidisciplinary team working. The content of the job plan can be tailored to provide exciting opportunities to the right individual. As well as all major DGH specialties we provide:
- A regional spinal surgery service for Somerset, North Devon and
South Avon circa 500,000 patients and tertiary care for Dorset.
- A county-wide vascular service to the population of Somerset circa 500,000.
- A region-wide specialist obesity and bariatric surgery service for the population of Somerset, Devon and Cornwall, circa 2,000,000.
- Critical care support for the newly opened regional Cancer centre.
- Anaesthetic Support for 24/7 PCI and Interventional Radiology services.
We are currently in the process of building a brand new £80million Surgical centre with 20 bedded critical care unit due for completion 2023.
Our trust has a dedicated Quality Improvement team consisting of over 30 people able to provide support for all QI projects delivering improved patient care/experience. We are also an exemplar site nationally for developing digital patient records with full implementation in Critical Care already. The Trust is rated top in National Training survey within our deanery with the Deanery rated second of all Deaneries nationally.
The Trust provides acute and community services to circa 350,000 living in the west side of the county.
The successful applicants will be joining a well-motivated and supportive department which functions effectively as a team to provide a full range of elective and emergency anaesthetic & chronic pain services.
All applicants must either be on the GMC’s specialist register or within 6 months of obtaining their CCT at the time of interview.
