This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Stroke Specialty Doctor approaching their Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration to join our regional stroke service, which sits within the Department of Medicine for Older People.
St Helens and Knowsley Teaching Hospitals provides Hyperacute Stroke Unit care for Mid-Mersey - covering both its local population as well as those of Halton and Warrington. The stroke service consists of 16 Hyper-Acute Stroke Unit (HASU) and 16 HASU step-down beds; plus 25 Acute Stroke Unit beds. The successful candidate would be expected to be able to work, working on the Acute Stroke Unit, TIA clinics and stroke review clinics independently. They will also work on the Hyperacute Stroke Unit with the Stroke consultant of the week. It is intended that the successful candidate joins the stroke consultant on-call rota for thrombolysis, following a period of training and supervision.
The Department of Medicine for Older People will actively encourage the successful candidate to pursue their career ambition. There is a well-developed teaching/training programme with excellent postgraduate facilities.
