Consultant Perinatal Psychiatrist - (10 PA's - Permanent)
This is an exciting clinical post as a Consultant Perinatal Psychiatrist (Full time) within South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust. This post is within the existing, recently expanded Community Perinatal services, based at Kings College Hospital and serving the Boroughs of Lambeth /Southwark/Lewisham. The birth rate in the boroughs of Lambeth, Southwark and Lewisham is approximately 18,000 and is projected to increase. The post has been developed with the support of the NHSE Community perinatal Development Fund to ensure that the Community Perinatal Team has sufficient consultant medical input, in line with the recommendation from The Royal College of Psychiatrists CCQI Quality Standards for Community Perinatal Services and CR 197 paper which recommends one PA of consultant psychiatrist time for each 1,000 births, as well as the Pan London Service Specification . The post and expanding service also recognizes the significant morbidity of a diverse population women with perinatal mental illness in these boroughs and delivering at Kings College Hospital.With the Kings Team, the post holder will join a multidisciplinary team and will work closely with the Perinatal psychiatric team across the Trust and inpatient Mother & Baby Unit.
