We invite applications for the Wings for Life Research Fellowship at the Department of Neurosurgery. The Fellow will work under the supervision of Prof. M.C. Papadopoulos and Dr. S. Saadoun for 3 years towards the PhD degree. UK NTN in Neurosurgery and at least ST4 seniority are essential.
Our team have developed intraspinal pressure [Crit Care Med 2014;42:646], microdialysis [Ann Neurol 2016;80:522] and tissue blood flow [J Neurotrauma 2019;36:919] monitoring for spinal cord injury. The Fellow will interact with clinicians and scientists to obtain and analyse multi-modality data collected from the injury site of patients with acute spinal cord injuries. The Fellow will also attend neurosurgical teaching and participate in the registrar on call rota.
This exciting post provides a unique opportunity to combine neurosurgery, critical care, signal processing and computer programming for improving the care of spinal cord injured patients.
