Consultant Physician in Diabetes and Endocrinology with General Medicine (2 Posts)
Luton & Dunstable University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust received
an overall Good for services at the Luton and Dunstable Hospital following
its last CQC inspection, and was recently announced the only hospital in
the country to meet all of the key targets.
The successful candidates will join an established Consultant and
multidisciplinary team in developing and delivering diabetes and
endocrinology services. The Directorate of Diabetes and Endocrinology is
currently undergoing an exciting period of expansion to meet the needs of
a rising demand in specialist care. In support of this, for Consultants
across all Directorates in Medicine, pursuing a sub-specialty interest
within diabetes or endocrinology is highly encouraged.
The appointees will contribute to acute and general medicine duties. The
trust is undertaking a large and unique remodelling of service provision
implementing a needs-based care model that admits patients under the
most appropriate specialty team. The diabetes team will provide a
proactive in-reaching service in this new model.
The Hospital has always been renowned for its friendly atmosphere and
good working relationships. The Trust has University Hospital status with
UCL and the Royal Free, which provides an opportunity to strengthen our
teaching and R&D programme and brings a more academic environment
to the hospital. This department is fully committed to teaching and
training both undergraduate medical students and postgraduate doctors.
The Hospital has easy access to central London and the rural Chilterns.
Excellent schools are found nearby. There is also very good access to the
Midlands and London by road or by rail. London Luton Airport is within
fifteen minutes drive of the hospital. Residence is required within ten
miles by road or up to thirty minutes travelling time of the hospital.
Applicants must be fully registered on the UK General Medical Council’s
Specialist Register and have MRCP. Specialist Registrars may apply if
within six months of CCT.
