University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust is the lead tertiary Oncology and Haematology Centre in the South West Peninsula and provides a broad range of specialist treatments. These include Intracranial SRS/T, Lung SABR, IGRT, IMRT, HDR / LDR Brachytherapy and the full range of Stem Cell Transplants. The Trust has invested in 3 new LINACs and a number of new posts in recent years to support the expansion of our tertiary services. We have recently relocated to a new Chemotherapy Unit and have expanded our Outpatient facilities.

The Plymouth Oncology Centre is expanding rapidly and is the most research active in the South West Peninsula. Our ambitions in this field are demonstrated by the recent appointment of a leading Academic Consultant Oncologist for Urological Cancers in partnership with Plymouth University. All Oncology staff are expected to be research active with dedicated time in their job plans to support this. Our Consultants are well supported by a large team of Research Nurses, a dedicated Research Registrar and administrative staff.

All Consultants manage their own site specific workload and participate in our Acute Oncology Service (Mon-Fri 9-5) on a 1 week in 11 basis. Secretarial support is provided along with out of hours support via the On-call Registrar. All cancer sites are covered by more than one consultant to enable team working and cross cover.

This is an exciting time at the Plymouth Oncology Centre. Having recently secured NHSE approval to continue providing intracranial SRS/T and Lung SABR, we now seek to appoint a number of posts to facilitate further expansion.

Positive consideration will be given to applicants with other site interests and those wishing to work on a part time basis. We also positively consider flexible working requests.

If you share our ambition to provide World Class Cancer Care and enjoy a lifestyle that is second to none, think Plymouth. Informal enquiries should be directed to Dr Pete Sankey on +44 1752 430138 ( or Dr Amy Roy on +44 1752 432337 ( Alternatively to apply, please click the apply button.
