Palliative Care Doctor
Part Time or Full Time post dependent on role.
Salary dependent on experience.
Initially 12 months fixed term. As a minimum, the post holder will work the end of the week plus an on call commitment of 1:4 weekends (dependent upon experience)
There is an opportunity for either an enthusiastic experienced doctor or a more junior doctor thinking of palliative medicine as a career, to join the integrated, specialist palliative care services for the West Lancashire, Southport & Formby area. Queenscourt, a Specialist Palliative Care Unit provides 10 beds, day and ‘at home’ services and specialist medical, therapy and nursing services as an integral part of the local NHS & independent palliative care services.
The main duties are day to day medical care of inpatients and day services at Queenscourt, working into the hospital and community as required.
The post-holder will be expected to participate fully in clinical activities, the teaching programme and will be trained in all aspects of the required work.
Participation in the bank holiday rota is in addition to the fixed on-call commitment of 1:4 weekends.
Full GMC Registration and current membership of a medical defence organisation is essential. For experienced doctors, a successful candidate will have at least 5 years relevant post registration experience and have successfully completed a membership exam. Experience in General Practice and/or palliative medicine is desirable but not essential. For a doctor considering palliative medicine training, the post can be adapted to provide the experience required.
