Clinical Fellow ST3+ Level in Cardiology
This post is based at Whipps Cross University Hospital. This post is available from now for twelve months in the first instance with the potential for extension.
The appointee will gain experience in the various different aspects of general cardiology. He/she will work alongside 1 other SAS doctor and 1 training SpR in providing the day-to-day care for the inpatients on the coronary care unit and will supervise four Foundation doctors.
The successful applicant will undertake up to two clinics per week. He/she will gain experience in the reporting of non-invasive investigations and an opportunity to gain basic catheter laboratory experience. The successful candidate will be expected to work towards the BSE examination. These duties are undertaken on a rotational basis so that training opportunities are shared.
There is no formal on-call duties but there are ample opportunities within the medical directorate to undertake medical on-call duties. A formal on-call medical commitment can be arranged.
The appointee will be encouraged to undertake an audit project, to attend and participate in the alternate weekly cardiology teaching meeting. The successful candidate will have a weekly commitment to teach our medical students.
The post-holder will undergo regular appraisal by his/her educational supervisor.
This is an ideal post for someone who is interested in a career in Cardiology as a prelude to formal higher specialist training in Cardiology.
