Consultant in Paediatric Rheumatology

Applications are invited for a 10 PA substantive Consultant in Paediatric Rheumatology post based at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust (10 PAs). This post has a 1 in 5 on-call commitment.
The Rheumatology Department at GOSH provides a world class diagnostic and treatment service for children with inflammatory rheumatological diseases, and a diagnostic service for children with non-inflammatory musculoskeletal problems.
The department receives approximately 1000 referrals per annum at GOSH with the total number of patient episodes exceeding 8000. The in-patient services are shared with dermatology, infectious diseases and immunology and have recently moved to a new ward area, Pelican, in November 2017 as part of the planned hospital re-development. Out-patient clinics take place Monday-Friday in a number of Trust outpatient areas.
It is expected the candidate will have a broad experience in all forms of acute and chronic rheumatic and musculoskeletal disorders such as juvenile idiopathic arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, dermatomyositis, scleroderma, and vasculitis.
Applicants for both posts should satisfy the subspecialty requirements of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health for Paediatric Rheumatology (or equivalent standard from abroad), and be eligible for GMC subspecialty registration. Skills related to recognising and supporting children with chronic non-inflammatory musculoskeletal disorders is also desirable, since the rheumatology service at GOSH offers a diagnostic service for such cases.
The Rheumatology Consultant team comprises of 5.85 WTE consultants, inclusive of these 2 posts. There are 4.6 Clinical Fellows/Specialist Registrars, 4 Clinical Nurse Specialists and 2 Nurse Practitioners (that are shared with the Dermatology department), 6 physiotherapists, 2 clinical psychologists and 2 occupational therapists.
Applicants are expected to have a MRCP/MRCPCH, and to have extensive experience in general paediatrics and in paediatric rheumatology, including adolescent care.
Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust is a postgraduate teaching hospital, linked with the UCL Great Ormond St Institute of Child Health (ICH). The Trust has 368 beds and provides a comprehensive range of paediatric specialties for tertiary level care. The patient population consists of over 20,000 inpatients per annum and 84,000 outpatients.
All applicants must either be on the General Medical Council's specialist register or be within six months of obtaining their CCST/CCT award at the time of interview.
The basic salary range for this post is £77,913 to £105,042 per annum plus £2,162 per annum London Weighting.
