Applications are invited for this post full time to join our established multidisciplinary team working in a new build hospital with state of the art equipment and innovative service models. Our Trust is conveniently located between Liverpool and Manchester – 2 internationally renowned cities with major airports, whilst St Helens and Knowsley areas offer a high range of facilities, from schools to leisure activities.

The post will maintain and increase our current establishment of 17 consultant radiologists and allow further development of the imaging service, including extended day and weekend working. St Helens & Knowsley Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is one of the leading acute Trusts in the North West of England. We provide a full range of acute adult services to our local population of circa 350,000 and provide tertiary services across a much wider area in the North West, North Wales and Isle of Man. We are a Trauma Receiving Unit and the Mersey Regional Burns Unit.

The Trust has excellent management, robust systems and innovative processes all of which have underpinned a period of sustained and improved performance.

The Diagnostic Imaging Service at both Whiston and St Helens Hospitals was awarded the highest possible CQC rating of ‘Outstanding’ (the only such acute Trust service in the country to be awarded this rating). The department operates a 1 in 15 on call rota; with full SPR cover and separate interventional rota. We are a progressive friendly department and we can offer flexible working patterns including the potential for home working as part of the job plan.

This is a replacement post required to support the existing service including CT colonography, MR enterography and general G.I. investigations.

Applicants must have full GMC Registration and be on the CCT register at the point of application or must be in receipt of their CCT within 6 months of date of interview.

Potential applicants are strongly recommended to visit the department
