We are seeking an experienced Specialist Anaesthetist to join our team based at Whangarei Hospital. It is essential the successful applicant participates in the consultant on call roster (usually 1:12).
You must have a qualification that allows Vocational Registration as an Anaesthetist with the Medical Council of New Zealand. Suitable applicants will hold FANZCA, or equivalent, and have extensive experience in adult and paediatric anaesthesia in a hospital setting. Sub-specialty interests and expertise are encouraged and supported. Our Specialist Anaesthetists undertake supervision and training of medical staff so you must have commitment to clinical teaching, as well as your own ongoing medical education.
Whangarei Hospital is the largest hospital in Northland providing secondary care services and a Level 2 Intensive Care Unit; supported by three regional hospitals in Kaitaia, Kawakawa, and Dargaville. Most surgery is based at Whangarei Base Hospital, although you may be required to work at Kaitaia Hospital (just over 2 hours north of Whangarei) from time to time. We provide anaesthesia for a wide range of cases across most surgical specialities; the size of the hospital makes for a collegial working environment.
